Hey there all, we're back again! This time with the next comic scene, from Book 2’s Chapter 16: Night of the One Hundred Revelries, which will be releasing on 5/6/24.
A smaller scene this time, but the first from the chapters following the end to the fanfiction's hiatus. So, another important step forward for the project! Once this scene is up, there will only be three more scenes from Book 2, before it will be time to start into Book 3. Super exciting!!

Hey there all, we're back yet again!! This time it’s going to be a scene from Distorted Reality's Book 2, Chapter 11: The Serpent's Pass. It will be releasing on all the usual platforms on 12/4/23.
Another bit of a milestone for the project, this will be the final scene from the chapters of Distorted Reality before the hiatus. After this, we'll be into adaptations from new chapters written in 2020 and beyond. This scene was admittedly a messy one in terms of development (for various reasons), but it’s been a rewarding journey bringing it to completion, and so excited to be inching closer to the final scenes from Book 2.

Hey there all, it’s that time again! The second scene from Book 2’s Chapter 8: Bitter Truth will be releasing on all the usual platforms 7/31/23.
A bit more of a minor scene this time, my original reasons for adding this scene to the lineup back in 2016 got shuffled around and mostly cut during the intervening years of revisions, but an interesting visual challenge nonetheless.

Hey there all, we’re back again! This time around we’ll be finishing up the last pages of first scene from Distorted Reality’s Bitter Truth. The batch will be planned to release on all the usual platforms (here, Tumblr, Tapas, and Comic Fury) on 2/13/23.
Having both sixty-page and fifty-page comics back-to-back turned out to be a mental hurdle in ways I didn’t expect, so it’s exciting to have made it through to the other side. I’ve learned some things that I think will help in my approach in future, and I've also been getting some important infrastructure work done on future content to keep things on track. Many exciting things to come!

In other news:
Distorted Reality the fanfic is now officially complete!! (And on the fifteen-year anniversary of its initially posting no less.) The fanfic is such a huge epic with so many characters, amazing settings and twists and turns, more than this comic could ever capture. If you want to see where it all goes and how it ends, definitely check it out!! For audio listeners, the audiobook by MadamMelonMeow and C is also finished in full!
On another note, it was suggested to me on the last post that it might be helpful to non-English speakers to include transcripts of the pages, which could be translated with Google Translate, for the languages that don't have translations. I’ve added page transcripts to the comments section on the ComicFury version of the series (I'm currently caught up to The Golden Siege, and hope to get the rest done soon), and have also added the full transcripts to tumblr, in case that's more convenient. (Google Chrome has a tool that allows automatic translation of sites, but I'm not sure about other browsers, and I know some people might still prefer copy and paste.) Thanks so much again for the suggestion!!

Hey all, we’re back again! This time for a scene from Distorted Reality’s Book 2, Chapter 8: Bitter Truth—in which the gaang at last learn the truth about Aang’s past.
This batch will be the first thirty pages of a fifty-page scene (the overambitiousness continues), with all pages releasing on all the usual platforms (here, Tumblr, Tapas, and Comic Fury) on 11/7/22. I’ve considered this scene in particular something of an obstacle in the project for quite a while now, with its many unusual elements, so it’s been exciting finally getting to this point.

In other news:
This time I’d like to spotlight a few DR-inspired writings that have come out over the past few years. In my own creative journey, the fan projects that have impacted me the most have been those that inspired me to some kind of work of my own, and in my mind there’s no higher praise:
An Honest Conversation by Northern Goshawk—An imagining of Aang and distorted Katara’s conversation, after she learns the truth of Aang’s world. (Oneshot)
The Last Firebender by Carrotine Clara—An alternate imagining of the Distorted Reality concept, where a transported Aang must face off against the Water Confederation, featuring a variety of new characters and settings. Bent Glass by Covok—Inspired by the Distorted Reality concept, an Alternate History AU in which the Northern and Southern Tribes united in Kyoshi’s time, which led to a ripple effect placing them at odds with the Earth Kingdom and technologically undeveloped Fire Alliance. Aang is joined by firebenders Zuko and Azula in his quest to find a waterbending master, and stop the Water Confederation. (Set in an altered version of the canon world, with the Avatar Cycle and characters' bending abilities same as canon—also check out the original outline for more detailed notes on the world and characters.)
Always so exciting to see the different takes and stylistic approaches to an idea, definitely check them out if you get the chance!!
